TIG WIRED

It’s This Job I Do

You’ve heard all my promises, you’ve heard all my remarks

You’ve heard me say, I’ve always loved you from the very start
so why can’t I remember when loving you got to be so hard

Still you know it kills me, when we have to be apart

It’s this job I do

It’s this thing called work

It’s the price I pay

For better or for worse

It’s the path I choose

Sometimes I get it right

Most times I lose

Three weeks straight, 12 hour shifts, didn’t see much sun or moon

A day off came from who knows where, not a minute too soon

a bunch of us piled in the trucks we headed for the border line

We shoulda stopped right in our tracks would have been the better time

It’s this job we do

It’s this thing called work

It’s the price we pay

For better or for worse

It’s the path we choose

Sometimes we get it right

Most times we lose

We rolled into this funky bar

For to have a couple brews

Some local boys were hangin there

But everything was cool

Until some joker said something

About our women back at home

The place lit up like a house on fire

Everyone was gone,

and I wonder what you think of

When you lie awake at night

A little bedroom conversation

Some arms to hold you tight

And I would never fault you if you chose a simpler life

With a man who makes you sparkle, when he looks into your eyes

I got seven days in the county jail

But I guess I should’ve known

I’m callin you to post my bail please pick up that phone

I regret the times I took your heart, and put it in the lost and found

I got the wander lust and a restless heart

That I'm trying to settle down

It’s this job I do

It’s this thing called work

It’s the price I pay

For better or for worse

It’s the path I choose

Sometimes I get it right

Most times I lose

You’ve heard all my promises

you’ve heard all my remarks

You’ve heard me say, I’ve always loved you from the very start
so why can’t I remember when loving you got to be so hard

Still you know it kills me, when we have to be apart

It’s this job I do

It’s this job I do

It’s this job I do

(don’t you know)

It’s this job I do
